October!

Can you believe it's October already?! We continue to stay busy and working very hard. We will continue to read and finish Frindle and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing in class this week. We have started our addition and subtraction unit in Math. Please practice and review daily. I have found many students are struggling with this concept, especially regrouping.
Chef of the week has been a huge success! We are still taking sign-ups for those that are interested, and feel free to sign up again later in the year. We have people signed up until the month of February.
Evelyn was our first student chef of the week and she made "Energy Balls" for us. Below I have listed the ingredients and directions for this delicious treat.
        Energy Balls:
            1 cup Oats
1/2 cup Chocolate chips (or white morsels)
            1 Tablespoon Flax seed
            1 shake of Cinnamon
            1 teaspoon of Vanilla
            1 teaspoon of honey
            1 cup of Peanut Butter
Mix with a spoon and roll into balls. Using plastic gloves is helpful!
    Eat and enjoy!

Welcome to Mrs. Kirk's Fourth Grade Class!

I would like to welcome everyone into a new year! We are going to have great experiences and learn many new things. On my blog you will find a lot of activities and information. I have placed links that you can access to practice and review math skills, reading skills, and language arts skills. I have also attached some links for our healthy chef projects. If you ever have any questions please contact me via e-mail, phone call, or note. I will do my best to get back with you in a timely manner. Some upcoming dates to remember are: September 21st our first literature project is due and September 27th is our walk-a-thon.
